Table for Three at Shi Lin

17 Dec

Saturday nights are usually the Dizons’ night out.  For this particular Saturday evening, our little boy, when asked what he wanted to eat, requested for Chinese.  So off to a Chinese restaurant we go! 🙂

Powerplant Mall in Rockwell is like our second home.  We love hanging out there.  Super chill lang 🙂   And now here’s another reason why we will always keep coming back to Rockwell…

A new discovery: Shi Lin!  Super love!  Affordable pa 🙂

I liked their Organic Teas very much!!! A break from all the Nestea! Hehe I had the Tropical Plumberry.  Very refreshing.

Organic Iced Teas: Passion Berry (P60) and Tropical Plumberry (P60)

Another favorite dish of mine!  I had to order as soon as I saw it on the menu!  My Century Egg!!!

Century Egg with Bonito Flakes (P95)

While waiting for the rest of our food, I read the directions on how to eat Xia Long Bao.

Time to follow the instructions!

Xiao Long Bao 6pcs (P138)

Then the rest of our orders kept coming.  I love flavorful dishes and this pork chop needed a little bit of help 🙂  I poured some of the sauce of the Spicy Vegetables and Pork Wonton on the pork chop.  It was a good combination!

Fried Rice with Pork Chop and Egg (P195)

This spicy wonton was my favorite among all that we ordered.  Oh and of course the Xiao Long Bao and Century Egg…

The fried rice was Damien’s favorite.

Fried Rice with Shredded Pork and Egg (P98)

This fluffy cheesecake naman was Dante’s favorite. Haha!

Shi Lin Cheese Cake (P105)

And I loved it, too!  Here’s the cake after thirty seconds… Haha! Just kidding.  May mamon factor siya.  But it’s richer and cheesier 🙂 YUM!!!

The “jahe” piece.  Always the last thing left on the table and then eventually disappears 🙂

And lastly, Hot Almond Cream with Sesame Balls!  SARAAAP.

I love almond jelly, almond lotion, almond anything.  And this dessert tops all the almond anything!!! This is my new favorite almond dessert.  And it came with a sesame ball.  I didn’t know what to expect when I sliced this sesame ball! LOL!

Hot Almond Cream with Sesame Balls (P105)

This dark and pasty liquid oozed out.  I know it doesn’t look that great and appetizing but believe me, this dark thing plus the white almond cream = 🙂

Sobra kaming natuwa!  It was a great meal and the price was so reasonable.  We’ll probably be here again during the Christmas break.  See you guys there, right, little Jedi? 🙂

Taiwanese Anyone?

22 Jun

After our morning shopping trip to Uniqlo, Mall of Asia, we decided to have lunch there to treat our dearest Tatay to lunch.  It was a late Father’s Day celebration because last Sunday was just so full of eating events, Baptisms and reunions.  So we decided to treat our Dad last Tuesday 🙂

We actually didn’t know where to eat yet so we checked the mall directory 🙂  My older brother spotted Lugang Cafe in the list.  And the choice was made 🙂

I absolutely loved the interiors of this place. Completely did not think it would look like this since I was expecting a typical Asian restaurant with simple interiors and round tables 🙂

Drinks were massive 🙂

Three-cup Chicken. A house special.

Pineapple Rice.

Eggplant with Spicy Sour Sauce in Clay Pot. My personal favorite 🙂

Stir-Fry Beef with Chili Peppers

Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao. Ready… set… gooooo!!!

Admiring this little dumpling 🙂  So yummy!!! 🙂 We had two orders of these 🙂

PEANUT SMOOTHIE. OMG. This, I must say, one of the best desserts I’ve tried ever 🙂 I just want to stuff this smoothie in a glass and drink it with a straw. So refreshingly yummy. A MUST TRY.

Overall, it was a great meal 🙂  But that Peanut Smoothie just stole the show.  I cannot wait to go back to try the other desserts and other house specials like the minced pork.  That looked really good, too.  Ayayay!

Best part of the meal was being able to hang with my parents and brothers after shopping at Uniqlo 🙂  Wish there were more days like these 🙂

And the best Xiao Long Bao goes to…

6 Dec

Every time we visit Hongkong, eating our favorite Xiao Long Bao is a MUST. They are like soup dumplings 🙂 And we’ve discovered where to go to eat the BEST Xiao Long Bao in Hongkong…

Din Tai Fung 🙂 We go to the one in Silvercord, Shop 30, 3/F, No. 30 Canton Road, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon 🙂

Meet my husband, Dante, and my son, Damien Crow 🙂 We just came from Toys R’ Us and Crow was so happy with his new toy.  Boba Fett… bought by his Uncle Chris, a Star Wars geek himself 🙂

A cup of tea to prepare my tummy for the meal ahead.

Oh yey! Kids get their own plastic plates and bowls 🙂 very smart of them 🙂

And their own spoon… As shown by Crow 🙂

While waiting for the food, one more photo, boys! 🙂

Here comes the spicy vegetable wonton 🙂

Then arrives the award-winning Xiao Long Bao…. There’s my Dad 🙂

Shrimp Fried Rice.

Veggies, of course 🙂

Dante’s favorite porkchop 🙂

Another order of porkchop over rice 🙂 Para hindi bitin 🙂

And some spring rolls 🙂

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants, ever 🙂 So if you’re planning a trip to Hongkong soon and craving for some Xiao Long Bao, you know where to go 🙂
