Isha

Last September 8, 2014 was the wedding of one of my favorite and sweetest clients, Isha 🙂  I first met her when I did her makeup for her prom.  Such a smart and beautiful lady, this one.  Then I’d see her one prom after another.  Haha!  Such a heartthrob!  Then it was her grad ball then debut 🙂  I remember I was almost about to give birth during her debut but I really didn’t want to miss that day.

I was so happy and excited when I found out she was engaged and that she wanted me to save the date to be her makeup artist for the wedding!  I was too excited.  Isha is like a younger sister to me.  And on this wonderful Monday morning in September, I was at her house, reunited with the kindest family, the De Vera’s 🙂

I was also so excited to see my handmade crocheted dolls in Liza’s room! 🙂  Liza is Isha’s beautiful mom who adopted two of my Googlees.  Awwww, thanks so much, Liza 🙂  They’re so lucky to be in such a beautiful home 🙂

Teacher Kit

It was an early start for hair and makeup last September 6, 2014 🙂  I really don’t mind waking up in the wee hours of the morning.  It’s so peaceful knowing almost everyone is still asleep 🙂

Our wedding preps were in Manila Hotel, one of my favorite hotels, and the bride was one of my favorite preschool teachers at my son’s previous school, Teacher Kit 🙂

Teacher Kit was my son’s very first teacher.  Damien Crow was about two years old and he couldn’t speak yet.  So there was a time when he would bite his other classmates when he would get frustrated.  This was our biggest issue at that time.  Haha!  Thank you for your patience, Teacher Kit! 🙂

Cassie’s Big Day

One beautiful Sunday last March 3, 2013, I was so excited to head over to Intramuros, one of my favorite places in Manila, to do makeup on another lovely bride, Casini 🙂

She was checked in at The Bayleaf Intramuros, a new hotel that just opened late last year.  It was a really nice hotel and the staff was very helpful.  I bring around five bags whenever I do weddings and you can tell when the staff is more than willing to help you.  At Bayleaf, they were happy to help 🙂

Yesterday, November 9, 2012, I was in the company of another beautiful bride, Aiya 🙂

At 9am, Manila Peninsula Hotel, the wedding preps for hair and makeup would begin 🙂

Classic wedding bouquet.  I just love the simplicity of this bouquet. White on white, just looks breathless.

But the one who looked absolutely breathless in her equally stunning gown by the talented Sassa Jimenez was Aiya…

Aiya looked stunning.  It seemed like she was sitting on a bed of clouds 🙂

She wanted her wedding makeup color palette to stick to warmer tones using gold and brown shades for the eyes 🙂

It was such a pleasure doing her mom and sister’s makeup, too.  Three beautiful ladies in one day!  This is why I love my job.  Doesn’t the mother of the bride look like a bride herself? 🙂

A Beautiful Morning with Myles

Last Saturday, June 30, 2012, Myles got married at 10am in Tagaytay 🙂

Myle’s wedding ceremony was at 10am.  So by 6am, we were already starting hair and makeup for Myles and her wonderful mother 🙂

Their invite was a postcard 🙂 I forgot to photograph the front part of the invite! Ugh. But it was inspired by one of Myle’s favorite films in the 1950’s, a silent film about a little boy and his red balloon 🙂

Ces, Sonya, Kasalan At Iba Pa :)

Sonya’s Garden is one of the most popular wedding venues here in Tagaytay 🙂  And last April 15, 2012, two of my friends, Ces and Dovie, tied the knot, right here at Sonya’s Garden 🙂

It was time for RJ, one of my closest friends and talented hairstylist, to start working his magic on Ces’ hair 🙂

Makeup DONE.  Ces’ skin is flawless 🙂  She just wanted a bridal look that was fresh and very natural 🙂

Time to take a quick break for lunch.  RJ and I had lunch at Sonya’s dining area and had a very healthy meal.  I’m not really a salad kind of gal but I really really enjoyed this meal! 🙂

We had a pitcher of this fresh dalandan juice. So refreshing!

The Legends and The Classics

This was the first time I met the legendary, Miss Cecile Licad.  I was asked to do her makeup for the PR shoot for their upcoming concert, Miss Cecile together with Miss Lisa Macuja and Miss Lea Salonga.  I knew, as soon as I found out that these three world class talents were going to perform together, that this was going to be an extraordinary and unforgettable event!  I have never seen Miss Cecile perform live.  I just watched her play beautifully on the piano through YouTube videos.

I was so excited on my way to the shoot that day.  I was going to see my good friends Gela Laurel and Xeng Zulueta 🙂  Two of my closest and dearest makeup artist friends.  Gela was going to do Miss Lea’s makeup and Xeng was doing Miss Lisa’s 🙂  I was also very excited to work again with one of my dearest friends and fab fashion stylist, Bea Constantino 🙂  We’ve gone through a whole lot together (you know that, sister!).  Soooo glad she gave me the opportunity to do this shoot! 🙂  Thanks, Bea!!!  Special thanks also to my partner, RJ Dela Cruz, for styling Miss Cecile’s hair 🙂

These photos came out in the souvenir program.  Aren’t they stunning???  Stunning, talented and such a pleasure to work with.  Love being surrounded by extraordinary people like them.  So inspiring!

After this shoot, I thought I wouldn’t be seeing Miss Cecile anymore.  She is based in New York.  It was such an honor just to be able to do her makeup that day.  A few days later, I got a call from Miss Terry, one of the producers of the show, The Legends and The Classics.  She asked me if RJ and I were free March 17 and 18 to do Miss Cecile’s makeup for the show!!! I was just so happy to hear from her again.  Checked my schedule right away as well as RJ’s.  We were both available.  Told Miss Terry right away, we’ll be there! 🙂  Thanks so much, Miss Terry! 🙂

This was a first for me.  I have never done makeup at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.  Like a child, I was busy exploring backstage!  Bea, who was there during the first night of the show, gave me a little tour 🙂  Bea, by the way, is also a ballerina and Miss Lisa has always been her role model 🙂

Watching the legends perform backstage. I got goosebumps. Cried at some parts. Amazed the whole time. Lea, Lisa and Cecile were fantastic together on stage!!! There should be another concert like this again! 🙂

What an amazing show... Bravo!

This was me standing in the middle of the stage after everyone in the audience left. Just had to know how it felt to stand centerstage in CCP. Another dream of mine. Haha!

I really do hope to see Miss Cecile again.  If not to do her makeup, just to see her perform live again!  She was just amazing.  There were no lyrics to her pieces.  No words to describe what the song was about.  But I could feel her pain, her joy, her love just through the notes that she played.  I was blown away.  Never thought any person could actually play the piano the way she does.  If Miss Cecile does come back to perform again here in Manila, you must not miss that chance to see her.  You’ll know what I mean the moment she closes her eyes before she plays that very first note.
