Those Fine Buns

19 Feb

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It was one of those days when Dante and I were excited to try out something new.  But not so new anymore now.  Haha!  This post is way delayed.  Haha! But to those who haven’t eaten there yet, it’s a great place to have merienda and prices are pretty reasonable.

So we got in our car on a normal day and went through the usual Edsa traffic to eat in Tim Ho Wan in SM Megamall.  This was when the Glorietta branch was still closed.  We arrived at around 1:30pm and the line wasn’t so long.  But there was still a bit of waiting time of around 15 minutes.  Not bad 🙂 Good thing I wasn’t that hungry yet or else I wouldn’t have waited.  Haha!

Their menu is a little check list on a clipboard and all we had to do was check our orders.

I just kept checking and checking… Haha!  Everything in the menu looks so good!!!

So here are the chosen ones in the list 🙂

We ordered the pork ribs with steamed rice.

Wasabi Salad Prawn Dumpling.  This was interesting 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Spring Rolls with egg white.

Pan Fried Radish Cake.  My favorite 🙂

Pork Dumpling with shrimp.

Vermicelli roll with shrimp.  Loved this!!!

Everything we ate so far was good!

But of course, the star of Tim Ho Wan, their pork buns! 🙂  I really enjoyed every bite.  From the soft and crumbly bread to the sweet asado pork filling!

I would definitely come back for these fine buns! 🙂

Wicked Emerald Garden

5 Jun

Another random Sunday evening, my husband picked me up from work in Manila, and took me to this place called Emerald Garden for dinner.  Classic, good ol’ Chinese food!

IMG_8289lores

Reminded me of “Wicked”… Emerald City!  Everything was green.  Made me want to sing… “Something has changed within me…” LOL!

They’re apparently known for their siopao but unfortunately, they had none left at that time.  The waiter said the siopao gets sold out in the morning.  So if ever we wanted siopao, we had to come in the morning 🙂  Lesgooooow.  So in the meantime, we just ordered our all-time favorites!  They were all delicious!!!

Everything we ordered were the smallest sizes.  But I didn’t expect the servings to be so big! Sulit.  Again, we ordered food good for four people.  Haha! And this is what we always say after over ordering:  “We can always take it home.” which always eventually translates to: “We might as well finish it because this won’t be good anymore when re-heated.” LOL!

This is the perfect Chinese resto for families and big groups.  The restaurant is two floors and the place was packed.  I would definitely want to go back to try their siopao!!! One of these days, I will get up early to eat breakfast in Emerald 🙂 (I can already hear Dante saying… “Yeah, right… wake up early???” Hehe…

Check out their contact details below 🙂

Stella and My Gals

28 Jan

dom02

Hooray!!!  Another reason to dine with friends 🙂  One of my bestfriends, Dom, is in town for a few days! And of course, an evening of food and chitchat is a must! Nani, Dom’s lovely cousin, visiting from Spain joined the gang! Did I just say gang?!?! LOL!

We wanted Dom and Nani to see this new side of Bonifacio High Street.  The chosen resto for the evening was Stella.

I heard that they were known for their wood fired pizzas.  We ordered the Fire Roasted Truffled Mushroom Pizza (P350). The pizza was stuffed with mushrooms.  Yum 🙂

For our pasta, we ordered the Roasted Seafood Firecracker Fusili.  It had spicy olive and sundried tomato cream, dried chilies, fire roasted seafood, fresh herbs and Malagos ricotta (P395).  I liked this dish very much 🙂

And now for the bellies… Beef Belly.

IMG_7772lores

And Pork Belly.  My friends and I just LOVE meat bellies.  Hehe!

IMG_7778lores

I ordered a Lemonade Sparkler (P110) and I chose the Berry flavored one.  I really liked this drink.  I wanted to order another one actually.  Hehe  But was saving my stomach for some coffee, of course.

IMG_7777lores

There’s always room for dessert.   A slice of salted caramel chocolate cake…

IMG_7781lores

A four layer red velvet cake…

IMG_7783lores

And the highlight of the meal… Stella’s Wood Fired Chocolate Almond Cookie Dough (P195) with salted caramel, rosemary pistachios topped with Mantecado ice cream.  Wow.

IMG_7790lores

It was warm and chewy… the perfect bite right there.

A great place to spend the evening with my best gals.  Til we meet and eat again, Dom and Nani!  I’m still saving up for that trip to China and Madrid, where Dom will be my translator in both places. LOL! 🙂

Although it was brief, hope you had a wonderful time, Dom and Nani! 🙂
