My Little Pastry

25 Nov

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One thing I love about Hongkong is their food.Β  And not just Chinese food but all sorts of things you see along the way.Β  Like this Danish Bar, which is actually a part of the Little Mermaid Bakery, a Japanese bakery that we first saw in Japan πŸ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Oh my, these Danish Balls are hot and crispy!Β  I love croissants and these are like bite-sized versions of a croissant.Β  This is the plain one which I loved!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And Dante, of course, got the chocolate one πŸ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Weeee… I love these.Β  My new favorite little pastry πŸ™‚

Before the Ramen Addiction

15 Jan

I was never a Ramen lover before. Β Wouldn’t even consider trying it.

Every time I would go to a ramen house with Dante,

I would either order gyoza or anything else BUT ramen.

Again with our favorite Hongkie couple, Gerwin and Charlie

Β In our recent trip to HK, Dante kept begging me to eat with him in Ippudo.

I wasn’t too excited. Β Kept thinking, noodle soup for dinner? Β But I’m not sick. Β LOL!

But I was excited to have dinner with Charlie and Gerwin πŸ™‚

So here we are...

Waiting for our food πŸ™‚

Being the stubborn person that I am, I stuck with my usual orders.

My Gyoza

Pork Buns

My little pork bowl

Was still hungry so I ordered another dish.

A mini dish, that is. My little plate of fried chicken.

Meanwhile, the three were raving about their ramen bowls.

Why?! What’s so great about a bowl of noodle soup. Β I just don’t get it.

I always associated eating ramen or noodle soup with being sick at home in bed.

Fresh Garlic

Little did I know…

Located at Shop 210, Silvercord Tower, 30 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hongkong

I’ll be back, Ippudo.

Best Burger in the Planet

29 Dec

It’s almost midnight and I have this sudden craving for my favorite burger in the planet. Β Triple-O’s by White Spot. “The sauciest, juiciest, tastiest, bestest burgers around!” I first tried Triple-O’s in Hongkong recommended by our friends, Charlie and Gerwin, but originated in Vancouver, BC. Β I thought it would be just another typical burger. Β But, OMG, Dante and I fell in love with their burgers and it has been our favorite eversince.

Freshly cooked french fries!

I always get their mushroom burger πŸ™‚

What’s so great about this burger??? Does it have a special mayo or sauce? Is it their tasty, buttery bread or the super juicy burger?! I do hope Triple-O’s finds its way to Manila! Or else I would just have to keep looking at these photos over and over again and wait for the next time I’m in Hongkong πŸ™‚ I love you, Triple-O’s!!!

A Walk in Mongkok :)

13 Dec

When in HK, Mongkok is a must especially for these two. Β It’s just about three to four stops via MTR from Tsimshatsui Station πŸ™‚ It’s where all the toys and shoe stores are. Β Toys for the big boys.

Before anything else, Gong Cha stop first, for a tall glass of cold milk tea πŸ™‚

Planning our agenda for the afternoon.

Oh but wait….second stop: fried tentacles in curry powder seasoning! Β THIS IS CRISPY, CHEWY, SALTY GOODNESS in a brown paper bag πŸ™‚ ahhh, I want one now! There is something similar to this though in Serenitea. Try their chicken chops πŸ™‚ I will have some today!

Not too adventurous to try these delicacies.

But this we cannot miss. Β Third stop: Cold noodles. Β (We just actually had lunch.)

We chose Octopus. Β Spicy.

Cold noodles in spicy sauce with octopus. Β Winner!!! πŸ™‚

My brother Chris cannot decide. Red or blue?! πŸ™‚

Blue. Β Ready to rock his gigs πŸ™‚

Time to head back to the hotel now to meet the folks and Damien for dinner πŸ™‚ Yes, eat again! πŸ™‚

There is also a ladies’ market in Mongkok. Β But be careful. Β Since it’s a tourist spot, a lot of the sales people start at a really high price 😦 Be firm. Β Just pretend to walk away while you haggle πŸ™‚ Prices get lower as you walk away πŸ™‚

And the best Xiao Long Bao goes to…

6 Dec

Every time we visit Hongkong, eating our favorite Xiao Long Bao is a MUST. They are like soup dumplings πŸ™‚ And we’ve discovered where to go to eat the BEST Xiao Long Bao in Hongkong…

Din Tai Fung πŸ™‚ We go to the one in Silvercord, Shop 30, 3/F, No. 30 Canton Road, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon πŸ™‚

Meet my husband, Dante, and my son, Damien Crow πŸ™‚ We just came from Toys R’ Us and Crow was so happy with his new toy. Β Boba Fett… bought by his Uncle Chris, a Star Wars geek himself πŸ™‚

A cup of tea to prepare my tummy for the meal ahead.

Oh yey! Kids get their own plastic plates and bowls πŸ™‚ very smart of them πŸ™‚

And their own spoon… As shown by Crow πŸ™‚

While waiting for the food, one more photo, boys! πŸ™‚

Here comes the spicy vegetable wonton πŸ™‚

Then arrives the award-winning Xiao Long Bao…. There’s my Dad πŸ™‚

Shrimp Fried Rice.

Veggies, of course πŸ™‚

Dante’s favorite porkchop πŸ™‚

Another order of porkchop over rice πŸ™‚ Para hindi bitin πŸ™‚

And some spring rolls πŸ™‚

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants, ever πŸ™‚ So if you’re planning a trip to Hongkong soon and craving for some Xiao Long Bao, you know where to go πŸ™‚
