Here’s a short post to brighten up this gloomy Monday ๐Ÿ™‚

I just wanted to share with you all my latest handmade creation, her name is Chinkee.ย  I wanted her outfit to be a simple black dress so she will always be in style, ready for her meetings ๐Ÿ™‚

I also made her two necklaces.ย  One is a key and the other is a keyhole heart that says, “made with love”.

Chinkee is probably the happiest doll I’ve made so far.ย  Hihi… ๐Ÿ™‚ย  She’s one of the few who has a smile on her face.

Have a great week ahead, my friends, from me and Chinkee! ๐Ÿ™‚

Professor Severus Snape for Anna

23 Feb

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Late last year, when I joined the Escolta Market, I met this really nice girl who loved Severus Snape.ย  Her name is Anna ๐Ÿ™‚

She asked me if I could make her a Snape handmade doll.ย  I got excited because I’ve never done any Harry Potter characters before so I agreed ๐Ÿ™‚

I crocheted Snape a little wand ๐Ÿ™‚

“There is no wand more powerful. It answers to you, and to you only.”ย  – Snape

It was my first time to crochet a coat ๐Ÿ™‚

I was really happy with how Snape turned out ๐Ÿ™‚ย  So sad to see him go but he’s now with Anna ๐Ÿ™‚ Check out Anna’s blog here! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m thinking of making Harry Potter now.ย  Let’s see.

Say hello to my latest handmade creation ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_7572lores

I had a request from two friends to make a Wonder Woman doll. ย I really had fun making this! ย Out of all the dolls I’ve made, Wonder Woman had the most embellishments and accessories. ย Hehe Of course, she IS Wonder Woman!

I always make sure I have a “copy” of all the dolls I’ve made. ย So I won’t feel so bad when I’d have to part with them. So here are the three unfinished Wonder Woman dolls, two for my dear friends and one for dear me ๐Ÿ™‚

Getting ready to give them to their new owners.

This year is going to be the time I will concentrate on being a dollmaker ๐Ÿ™‚ Watch out for more of my little super friends coming up! ย To my friends who have pending requests and haven’t gotten their dolls yet, please do not worry. ย I haven’t forgotten… They’re still in my little factory ready to come to life. ย I wish I had more hands! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am so excited for 2013. ย This hooker is going to be busy! ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a WONDER-FULL new year, everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚

The Mighty Avengers Made of Yarn and Lots of LOVE

17 Sep

I have been so obsessed with making Amigurumi dolls for my son lately!

For those who don’t know, here is the definition of Amigurumi: ย “It is the Japanese art of knitting or crochetingย small stuffed animalsย and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese wordsย ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, andย nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll. ย Amigurumi are typically animals, but can include artistic renderings or inanimate objects endowed with anthropomorphic features,ย as is typical in Japanese culture.”

Now define “Anthropomorphic” for me, please… (talking to Wikipedia.)

Anthropomorphic: ย Ascribing human characteristics to non-human things.

Ironman… definitely anthropomorphic! ย Haha! ย Ironman was actually the second doll I made for my son. ย In my past post about me going back to crocheting, I chose to do the Incredible Hulk first because it seemed like the easiest one ๐Ÿ™‚ ย I didn’t even have the right color of green yarn for it. ย But when Damien saw the finished product of the Hulk doll I made for him, ย he got so excited! ย And his reaction just made me want to make Ironman next ๐Ÿ™‚

And here he is with my son ๐Ÿ™‚

After making the Ironman doll, my son immediately said, “Mama, Thor is next! ย Please make Thor!”

“I’M ON IT, SON!” – Happy Mama

Thor is still missing his hammer! Coming soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

This is the reason why I love to crochet… Seeing that big smile on my son’s face when I finish a doll ๐Ÿ™‚

And lastly, Captain America… My personal favorite ๐Ÿ™‚

Check out his mighty shield! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ironkid vs. Captain America… Who will win??? ๐Ÿ™‚

And here they all are… my very first collection of hand-made dolls: ย The Mighty Avengers ๐Ÿ™‚

These dolls are just made of yarn and they don’t have high tech-weapons or karate chop action features but my son loves them just as much as his high-tech toys ๐Ÿ™‚

“Mama, you made me another treasure.” ย That’s what he says every time I hand him the doll I just finished ๐Ÿ™‚

It just inspires me to keep making these dolls for him, I mean “toys”. ย My husband insists that we call them toys instead of dolls. LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

Expect more Amigurumis to come! ย Finishing up another superhero right now ๐Ÿ™‚

It doesn’t take a lot to create something you’re very proud of and to make your kids happy. ย Just a little yarn, a little time and patience ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Monday to all! ๐Ÿ™‚
