What I Ate in Boracay

31 Jan

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Warning:  This post is a list of all that I ate in Boracay… so it’s a long list of food I pigged out on during the three days we were there.  It’s not complete though.  Didn’t include the free breakfasts at our hotel (only because I was still too sleepy to take pictures) and a dinner at Kasbah (only because it was too dark to take photos and I forgot my flash. Hehe!)  I also dedicated one entry to Real Coffee because it’s one of my favorite places in Boracay 🙂  But everything on this entry was excellent!!! 🙂

Let’s start with Obama Grill, first lunch in the island 🙂 We were starving so we wanted a big meal.   As in ulam and rice! Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Ulam:  Liempo and Bulalo.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

KANIN.  Garlic, of course.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Coffee, back in the White House.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Jammers 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Damien, the ice cream monster!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Cheeseburger!!! 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sweet Corn!!!  (It’s beside Starbucks.)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

With lots of butter and salt, please 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Buffet at Sea Wind 🙂  Last dinner in Boracay!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Let the feast and grilling begin 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

With my bestest friends, Angela and Bastie, Claudette, Mike and Isabel, and Emma 🙂

Final cup of coffee before leaving for the airport.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Our flight from Caticlan got diverted to Kalibo.  Not complaining.  A road trip to Kalibo meant more time with my boys, free round trip tickets to anywhere in the Philippines (except Batanes), and one final hardcore meal.  Officially still on vacation so diet does not apply 🙂

Late lunch at Miggy’s Cafe, right outside the Kalibo airport 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Damien, ice cream again???

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

French fries for Damien.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Pork Sisig for the hungry grown-ups.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Enjoyed these fried dumplings very much 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Saw the other table order Batchoy.  So, order din kami.  Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And that, my friends, ends the list of what we ate in Boracay! 🙂 *Burp!*  Eating is the best part of every vacation, don’t you agree?!  Hehe!

Happy Friday, everyone!!!  And Kung Hei Fat Choi!  Here’s to another year filled with family vacations, meals shared with friends and bottomless coffee! 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Real Coffee

25 Jan

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

When in Boracay, you must visit Real Coffee 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It’s at a new location now.  We figured because our tricycle driver dropped us off someplace else, where Real Coffee used to be 🙂 hehe…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The kitchen 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And so we did… 🙂  Yummy peanut butter brownie 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The freshest calamansi juice (plus a tablespoon of brown sugar.) 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Love the handwritten labels 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sorry, wala daw wifi, guys 🙂  Mag-usap na lang tayo.  Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For lunch, I decided to get something sweet than savory.  I ordered the “Elvis”.  A banana and peanut butter sandwich.  YUM!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A chunk of bananas in every bite 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Dante ordered the “Jack-a-Lean Omelette”.  It had two eggs, onions, tomatoes, ham and cheese, pesto and toast.  Super YUMMY.  Should have ordered this, too! 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Mr. Crow, the pickiest eater of them all, had his toast with butter 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My Real Coffee 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Dante and I are starting our coffee mug collection.  Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Love this place.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The view from Real Coffee.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A box of calamansi muffins before we go 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We all love it here.  Made me want to have my own coffee place by the beach and be like Mama Lee… another dream of mine.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Who knows… 🙂

Recess Time!

12 Jan

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Last December, two of my bestfriends celebrated their birthdays at Recess by Chef Chris, along Jupiter Street, Makati 🙂

It was the perfect place because we were all friends since Highschool and the place reminded us of being back in school. Haha!

Here are my best gals, Isabel and Claudette 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And me with my other best gal, Angela, and her husband, Bastie 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I chose to order the golden fried catfish topped with shrimp gravy and served with butter rice and spinach 🙂  Loved this.  Super rich flavors.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

But our favorite was definitely the panizza!!!  Super thin crust pizza.  Sooooo good.  We ordered two flavors.  I just forget which one is which.  Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This panizza is not complete without filling the slices of panizza with arugula and alfalfa sprouts.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Panizza rolled and ready to eat! 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We also ordered good ol’ fried chicken with waffles 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Of course, coffee to end the meal 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Thanks so much, Isabel and Angela, for the awesome lunch in Recess! 🙂 Will definitely be back for the panizza.  That was my favorite 🙂

The waiter even took our Instax photo for their photo wall.  Hihi… After thinking long and hard about what to write on the photo, we put our batch in Assumption 🙂  Sorry, Bastie, you’re part of the AC group na rin.  Haha! 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Happy Birthday, Isabel and Angela! 🙂  That was a great lunch.

Motto of the day:  You only live once.  Bwahahaha! 🙂

Saboten: Tonkatsu Heaven

11 Jan

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

First time I tried this place called Saboten was while waiting for our flight back to Manila at the Hongkong airport.  I am just so glad it’s finally here in Manila 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I absolutely love Japanese salad dressing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Date night with my boys! 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADamien telling us stories of… I don’t remember but most probably about Atom and Zeus from Real Steel.  Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Appetizers.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Perfect with the salad dressing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Preparing my tonkatsu dipping sauce.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Unlimited rice.  So yummy.  I can eat this alone.  Hehe…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Damien was so happy because they had a special menu for kids 🙂  Look at the cute plate and cup!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here comes my perfect Tonkatsu…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Taken in all angles.  Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Crispy on the outside, soft pork inside 🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Planning to eat there again this weekend.  Hope the waiting time won’t be so long 🙂

But it’s so worth the wait!

A Stroll Down Takeshita Street

1 Sep

IMG_9290lores

One of my favorite shopping places in Tokyo, Japan! 🙂  Takeshita Street in Harajuku!  Map, check!  Shopping bag, check!

IMG_9289lores

Most of the stuff they sell in Takeshita are kind of unnecessary but too cute to pass. Haha! Check out the trinkets I saw.  And this is just a very tiny portion of it.  Some stores don’t allow photos but I was getting so dizzy with all the stuff!  Sobrang aliw grabe! 🙂

IMG_9293lores

There was a much younger crowd here in Takeshita.  Dante and I totally blended in.  Haha!

IMG_9298lores

IMG_9292lores

IMG_9295lores

I was tempted to buy this shirt… Haha!

IMG_9296lores

Perfect place to find your halloween costumes!  I don’t think these will suit me though.  They’re too conservative!  Haha!

IMG_9302lores

IMG_9303lores

IMG_9306lores

When I was in a store with all the trinkets, I could hear the teens say, “Oh kawaii! kawaii!”  So cute how the kids say it 🙂

IMG_9307lores

IMG_9308lores

IMG_9309lores

IMG_9310lores

IMG_9311lores

Scary looking creatures.  But they’re actually quite cute!  Kawaii!!!  Saw a lot of these in Japan 🙂

IMG_9312lores

And my favorite part of Takeshita Street is seeing the teens all dressed up and ready to strike a pose for the crowd 🙂  I didn’t see any of the goth girls in red contact lenses and black lipstick this trip 😦

IMG_9299lores

Parang normal lang dito yung magsuot ng stuff toy sa katawan 🙂 hehe

One of my favorite places in Tokyo, Takeshita Dori in Harajuku.  It’s like being in a street full of Gift Gates.  Haha! Always interesting to go here!  A must when you’re in Tokyo especially if you like buying “coochie coochie” things like me 🙂

Happy Sunday, my Kawaii friends! 🙂

Snackin’ in Lotteria

25 Aug

IMG_9316lores

I am so missing Tokyo, Japan.  The place, the people and its food!  Was going through my photos and I remembered this hotdog stand called Lotteria 🙂

IMG_9318lores

Here’s one snack I couldn’t forget.  It’s a hotdog in a warm and crisp baguette with the ketsup already pre-applied inside.  Pre-applied??? Can’t think of a better term.  Hahaha! Sorry, I’m a makeup artist 🙂  The hotdog guy uses this scary machine to make this perfect hotdog sandwich.  Looks like those torture devices during the olden times.  Haha!

IMG_9319lores

Perfect snack during a rainy day in Tokyo!

IMG_9320lores

Before the shopping begins… 🙂

IMG_9322lores

What have you been snackin’ on these days???

IMG_9323lores

Have a happy Sunday, everyone!!! 🙂

My Love for Tote Bags

19 Jul

photo 1

One of our final stops in Tokyo was the Kinokuniya Bookstore.  Since most of the books here were in Japanese, I just walked around, just browsing, not looking for anything in particular.  Then suddenly, I saw this section.  OMG.  Full of super cute magazines WITH tote bags inside!!!  I started getting super excited!!!

And one by one, I checked out the magazines with their corresponding free tote bags.  These magazines, as I was looking through them, were actually different brands of mostly clothes and accessories.  The magazines were like their catalogs for the season. What a brilliant idea!!!  I wish they had these here… or start doing it for fashion brands here in the Philippines! 🙂

photo 2

Most of the ones that I bought were 1,500 Yen.  That’s more or less Php750 each.

The first one I chose was a brand called Malaika.  I love ethnic stuff! 🙂

IMG_9228lores

This was the magazine or catalog for the brand with their 2013 collection.  Pretty cute stuff! 🙂

IMG_9230lores

IMG_9235lores

IMG_9236lores

I love this one.  My favorite among the ones I purchased 🙂

IMG_9233lores

Tried a selfie. LOL!

The second one is from a brand called Earth Music & Ecology.

IMG_9226lores

Super duper cute, too 🙂

IMG_9519lores

And last but not the least, Moomin.  I really liked the character because she looked like the Wicked Witch from Oz, Elphaba, and I love her 🙂

IMG_9223lores

Love the color and design of this one 🙂

IMG_9509lores

I love totes… This last one that I got was not from Kinokuniya but somewhere in Ameyayokocho 🙂 I don’t think I’ll ever be able to afford a Chanel bag, so this tote bag will do for now 🙂 Haha! I got this also around the same price, 1500 Yen, I think 🙂

Chanel

Love my new tote bags.  Love these because they’re shapeless, they’re light, it’s so easy to dump all my things in it! 🙂  I actually wanted to buy more but all I could hear was my husband whispering, “Don’t you have enough totes already?!”  Fine. These four will do… for now 🙂

Have a happy and tote-ful weekend, everyone! 🙂  Message me if you happen to find irresistible totes like these here, please! 🙂

Sun Friend

5 Jul

IMG_9261lores

One evening in Tokyo, our new Japanese friend invited us for drinks in Sol Amigo which means Sun Friend.

IMG_9265lores

This was somewhere in Ueno 🙂

IMG_9262lores

I noticed the Japanese loved Mexican stuff… Food, jewelry and other things 🙂

IMG_9269lores

Meet our new friend, our Sol Amigo, Yoshinori or Rosh 🙂 He is also a silver jewelry designer.   We actually met him when we were at Ameyayokocho.  It’s a really cool place with a lot of silver jewelry, clothes, jeans, etc.  I was able to get me a skull beaded bracelet there and a tote bag 🙂 If you’re in Ameyayokocho, dont’ forget to look for Rosh’s shop! 🙂

IMG_9264lores

IMG_9263lores

Uuuuyyy… I didn’t have coffee that evening.  Para maiba naman… LOL!

IMG_9268lores

Look at that… Dante and Rosh.  Soul Brothers???  Haha! They both have Crow tatto0s!  Isn’t that the coolest thing everrrrr???

IMG_9266lores

Click on this link to check out Rosh’s awesome pieces 🙂

IMG_9270lores

Thanks so much, Rosh, for taking us out that evening! 🙂  It was really great meeting you, our new Sol Amigo! Hehe 🙂

IMG_9271lores

Til we meet again!  For now, see you on Instagram! Haha! 🙂  Follow Rosh at @rosh_silverjewelry 🙂

Coffee Breaks in Tokyo

29 Jun

IMG_9396lores

For me and my husband, coffee breaks are like pressing the pause button on your DVD player.  Hehe! Time to space out yo! 🙂

I was so glad we were able to drink lots of coffee in Japan this trip.  The last time I was in Japan, I was six months preggers and I couldn’t find any coffee shop that served decaf.  Haha!  I don’t think the Japanese like decaf.  Starbucks had to brew a special cup for me at that time.  I remember having a major breakdown when we couldn’t find a coffee shop that had decaf.  LOL!

But this time around, we drank the strongest, blackest coffee Tokyo could give.  Haha!  Here are some of the cafes we came across during our wandering walks in Tokyo 🙂

Here’s a cafe somewhere in Harajuku…

IMG_9393lores

IMG_9397lores

Enjoying an iced cafe latte and watching the people passing by… 🙂
