Kidzania: Where Kids Get A Glimpse of the Real World

9 Jun

IMG_3019

This all began when Damien and I were invited to the H&M Conscious Event at Kidzania last April 15, 2016.ย  Thanks again for inviting us, Miss Cathy David! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It was a fun-filled event and the location was at Kidzania in BGC.

There were so many activities for the kids ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Damien made a bracelet using old t-shirt cloth and also decorated pots for his very own plant.ย  I loved how H&M made the kids aware of recycling and green living.

After the activities, the kids could freely roam around Kidzania.ย  I was NOT expecting it to be like this at all.ย  I really thought it was just a huge playground where the kids can just play in different make believe shops, hospitals, etc.ย  Oh it was so much MORE than just that.

Before we entered Kidzania, Damien was already given a check from BPI for 50 Kidzos (the currency used in Kidzania).ย  He encashed it and now he has 50 Kidzos in his hands to be budgeted wisely.ย  Haha!

IMG_2989

So apparently, the kids need to “work” to be given a salary! OMG. How fun is that??? For Damien’s first job, he chose to work at the Holiday Inn.ย  He was given a choice to be part of catering, housekeeping or reception.ย  Guess what he chose??? HOUSEKEEPING.ย  LOL!

He was given tasks like put two bottles of mineral water on the table, fold blankets and fix pillows, place slippers by the closet, etc.ย  Look at him clean up the hotel room so nicely!!!ย  That’s my boy!!! Oh and parents aren’t allowed inside so I couldn’t coach him much.ย  Haha!

And so he got his first “sweldo” here.ย  Hahaha!!! ALIW.

His next job was making burgers in Mcdonald’s.ย  For some jobs, instead of earning a salary, they have to pay a fee in Kidzos.ย  I guess it’s because they get to take home the burgers they make.ย  Look at the kids making their own burgers! So cute!!!

He wanted to be a construction worker next.ย  I love how the Kidzania staff are so helpful and patient teaching the kids what to do.ย  They must love kids.

Damien also worked in a Shell Gas Station.

And that ends our first visit to Kidzania… Damien was like “I’ll be back.”

IMG_2987

A week after, we came back with his best bud and cousin, Caleb ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Time to go to the bank and encash those precious checks!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For their first job, they decided to work in a pharmaceutical.ย  Caleb was so excited! ๐Ÿ™‚ He told me that this was his favorite!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Then they wanted to be firefighters ๐Ÿ™‚ย  They started off with a brief discussion on what to do when there was a fire.

Suddenly there was a loud alarm!ย  There was an emergency!!!ย  So they rode the firetruck and had to extinguish the fire in a hotel! OMG, how exciting!!!ย  Pati ako nataranta sa fire!!!

CSI was up next.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

They were trained to part of KZPD.ย  Hehe ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It was so cool because while another batch of firefighters were busy with saving the hotel from burning down, they were the cops who kept everyone safe and away from the fire ๐Ÿ™‚

This is probably Damien’s favorite establishment… LOL!ย  The Coca-Cola Bottling Plant. Haha!ย  They get to bottle their very own Coke bottle ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

They also had the chance to work in a hospital…

…and Cebu Pacific as a pilot and flight attendant.ย  They had a good flight.

Another favorite establishment was LBC.

They had to pick some packages and push a trolley around Kidzania.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The kids also worked in a gym.ย  And while Damien was on his stationary bicycle, he kept saying, “look at me, Mama, I’m in Electric Studio!” Bwahahahaha!

And finally their shift was almost done.ย  In Kidzania, there are two shifts.ย  One is 9am to 2pm and the second shift is 3pm to 8pm ๐Ÿ™‚ย  We did the first shift and when it almost time, they decided that their last activity was going to be dancing in the Kidzania Parade ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Could the costumes be any more colorful??? LOL!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

They had to rehearse for the parade and they danced around Kidzania.ย  I could hear Damien saying before the parade, “This is like the parade in Disneyland!!! This is gonna be EPIC!”ย  HAHAHA!!! A dream come true… for me ๐Ÿ™‚ Haha! My closest friends know that working in Disneyland is my dream job.

And that ends our trip down Kidzania lane. This was probably one of the highlights of the boys’ summer vacation, even mine.ย  They already go back to school but I’m really so happy I was able to take them to Kidzania together.ย  Not only did they learn how to be firefighters and pilots but they also learned how to work together, how to accomplish tasks given to them and the value of earning and saving their Kidzos.

How I wish we had something like this when I was a kid.ย  Although my cousins and I had our own version of Kidzania back then.ย  Shout out to my cousins, Billie, Crissy and Valerie for playing with me when we were kids.ย  We also had our own restaurants, bazaars with play money, airplanes, schools, even churches (LOL! Remember the Haw Flakes as “props”???).ย  So I guess this is the same thing only much much fancier.ย  Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So grateful for this friendship… More adventures to come, boys.ย  So much more to come! ๐Ÿ™‚

Matsusarap!

29 Dec

One of my mother’s friends recommended this restaurant in Osaka. It’s called “M” or Matsusakagyu Yakiniku. Must-visit daw when in Osaka. So dito pa lang sa Manila, nagpa-reserve na kami, table for five. Thanks to their online reservation. And thanks also to Dante for booking ๐Ÿ˜€ I believe they only have seven tables.

ย
So we made it to our 6pm reservation. Hehe! Di kami naligaw. Yes, thanks again to our tour guide, Dante ๐Ÿ˜‚ ย Well, at first when we got there, litong lito sila kung sino ba kami?! We said reservation under “Cantada” (my maiden name). Wala daw. Baka daw we’re reserved in another branch. But no, sure si Mother na ito yung branch ๐Ÿ˜‚ Medyo ninerbyos ako kasi OMG, gutom na kami ๐Ÿ˜‚
But anyway, to make the long story short, the reservation was under “Dizon”. LOL.

So according to Kuni, the owner slash chef slash taga-explain ng menu slash new friend ni Dante on Facebook, this was their bestseller, the Matsusaka Beef DX Platter ๐Ÿ˜€

ย

So there it was… A plate full of perfectly sliced raw meat ๐Ÿ˜

ย

Look at that marbled meat… They say it’s even better than wagyu beef.

ย

So Kuni helped us out ๐Ÿ˜€ he started by spreading this block of what seemed to be like butter but was actually fat ๐Ÿ˜‚ OMG and my dad thought that it was some kind of appetizer ๐Ÿ˜‚ he almost ate it! Hahahahaha! Buti na lang, he asked me first what it was and I’m like “I have no idea!” ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

We also ordered some garlic rice to go with our beef platter. Soooo good!

ย

It also came with some mushrooms, veggies and corn. Damien loves corn ๐Ÿ˜€

ย

So there it was… Soft, tasty, melts-in-your-mouth beefy goodness. Oh my. ย If beef were marshmallows, this would be it. Hahaha! Labo?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ But you’ll know exactly what I mean.

ย

We all had a great time here in M. ย Definitely a must when in Osaka ๐Ÿ˜ Winner siya!

ย
Thank you, Kuni, for accommodating us! See you again soon for sure ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™ Hopefully no more confusion with reservation names ๐Ÿ˜‚ LOL!

ย

We went to the branch called M Hanare at the 2/F Daruma Building, Namba, Chuo-Ku, Osaka City.ย  Make sure you go to the right branch.ย  LOL!

Fried Chicken House

4 Nov

Get ready for all my #missingOsaka posts.ย  Haha!ย  I so miss Japan and being with my family!ย  Cannot wait for the next trip.ย  Luckily, we all got a 5-year visa!ย  Hooray!ย  So we’re already planning our next trip.ย  Haha!

We enjoyed Osaka so much.ย  Food trip siya talaga.ย  I really didn’t shop much but eat… oh yes.ย  You can enter any restaurant here and for sure masarap yung food!ย  So yes, we entered this restaurant because we saw pictures of one of our favorites… Karaage!!! Also lots of pics of chickens on their walls.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Everything in their menu was Japanese and no one really spoke in English, so I apologize I don’t know what this restaurant is called nor the exact address.ย  Haha!ย  I am so useless sorry.ย  Haha!

Thankfully all their menus always have photos which is a lifesaver!ย  So I got my favorite, the katsu chicken with curry of course.ย  Hehe… It was 824 Yen which is around Php 321.00.ย  Not bad at all!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I am also so glad that Damien loves Japanese food as well.ย  It’s not hard to feed him here.ย  Unlike when we were in Hongkong, all he ate was fried rice.ย  LOL!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Photo muna with my parents ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hungry na! LOL!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Dante’s order came first.ย  Karaage!ย  So good!!! And their dipping sauce was perfect with the chicken ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And here’s my order, chicken katsu curry!ย  LOVE.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My parents got the chicken with egg over rice dish ๐Ÿ™‚ย  My friend, Isabel, said it’s called Oyako-don.ย  “Oya” means parent and “ko” means child… So the chicken is the parent? and the egg is the child? LOL.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There was no kiddie meal in this restaurant but Damien got his favorite… Chicken Tonkatsu ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

That one last breath before I devour my meal.ย  Hahaha! Bumebwelo lang ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Yeyyyy!ย  Eat up, Little Bee! ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Obviously enjoying his meal ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Thank you, Osaka, for keeping my son well fed with your awesome Tonkatsus! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  More Osaka food posts to come! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great Wednesday, my friends! ๐Ÿ™‚

When In Baguio, You Rose Bowl!

2 Aug

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s another late post during my Baguio birthday weekend ๐Ÿ™‚ย  This was our first meal when we arrived in Baguio and we were HUNGRY.ย  What better way to celebrate four to five hours on the road with a big hearty meal in Rose Bowl ๐Ÿ™‚

It was my first time to eat here as far as I can remember.ย  Apparently, Rose Bowl has been open since 1945!ย  Wow!ย  Classic na pala to… ๐Ÿ™‚

And so our meal begins.ย  I needed my century egg fix.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Damien only eats fried chicken at Chinese restaurants.ย  The servings are huge!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And my all time favorite in any Chinese restaurant, my sweet and sour pork.ย  Loved their version of this.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’m not a vegetable girl… (I know, I should eat veggies!) but Dante loves his vegetables so he ordered a plate full of green stuff.ย  Chopsuey.ย  Okay, okay, it was pretty good! Fine, I’ll have some veggies.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And of course a bowl of fried rice!ย  Oh yeah! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Definitely a rice girl.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This was such a great welcome meal!ย  Haha! Big servings and really good comfort food! ๐Ÿ™‚

Welcome to Baguio indeed!!!

Choco-Late de Baguio

31 Jul

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

During my birthday weekend (which was months ago. Haha! I know, I haven’t updated my blog in so long!ย  I missed going on road trips with Dante and Damien and was looking through photos and came across these.) my little family and I celebrated up in the mountains… In the beautiful Baguio City.ย  I don’t remember the last time I was here.ย  But it’s still as lovely and as cool as I remember.ย  Just a little more traffic this time ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As soon as we’ve settled down in Baguio and checked in at our hotel room, we wanted to have a little snack and some hot chocolate ๐Ÿ™‚ย  With a little help from my bestfriend, Miss Waze, we found Choco-late de Batirol, just so close from The Manor Hotel.

Damien found the best table in the house! ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Like a boss.

According to the menu, “Choco-late de Batirol is a hot, thick, bittersweet blend, with a distinctive texture that calms your nerves and enriches your soul.ย  It’s an ancient choco-late concoction with no preservatives.”ย  So I ordered a cup of almond hot chocolate and Dante got the traditional blend.ย  I love anything with almonds ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So while waiting for our orders, Damien and I went around first to “explore”.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Loving the vibe.ย  I’m not really a nature girl but it’s nice to be outdoors once in a while, basta malamig.ย  Haha! ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

ย Waiting waiting… Baka from scratch pa nila ginagawa yung almond hot chocolate ko.ย  Hehe…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

At least someone’s not getting bored ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

First was Damien’s hot chocolate with marshmallows.ย  Looks so yummy!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And here’s my almond hot chocolate ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I love anything with almonds… almond milk, almond lotion, almond cakes, basta may almond, LOVE.ย  And I love Damien’s chubby hand ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s Dante’s traditional blend hot chocolate.ย  I like my almond one better.ย  Hihi…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Okay, may muta.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Who doesn’t love marshmallows?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Yummy bibingka ๐Ÿ™‚ So worth the wait!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These two ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

That’s my boy ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This was one of the best birthday weekends ever ๐Ÿ™‚ย  This post is so late and I’m already close to my next birthday (ok, exagg!) but I still remember how fun this weekend was, just drinking hot chocolate with my two boys, the cool breeze and the smell of horses.ย  LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  More from our Baguio getaway soon ๐Ÿ™‚

An Afternoon of Bibimbap, Street Shopping and Poop Bread in Seoul

3 Apr
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Isabel, enjoying the freezing cold weather ๐Ÿ™‚

After our very hectic morning at the Secret Garden in Korea, (that would be in a whole new different post…Hehe!) we were excited to head out to lunch! Starving and tired from hill climbing, we chose the nearest Korean resto we could find ๐Ÿ™‚ Luckily, we entered this resto that served Bibimbap!ย  Just exactly what I wanted at that moment… RICE! HAHA! ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Meals in Korea are quite affordable ๐Ÿ™‚ย  This Bibimbap was about P300 per dish.ย  Here it is pre-mixed.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here it is, mixed and ready to be devoured.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It also comes with a side of pork.ย  YUMMERS!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Enjoying lunch with my besties, Dom and Clauds! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  They have Coca-cola that’s half the size of a regular can.ย  Love it ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Before our trip, my friends would research on places to go to in Korea.ย  When they described Insadong-gil to me, I knew I would love it there…ย  Insadong-gil is the main road that leads to more alleys with specialty shops, art galleries and coffee places.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It was like a flea market with antique goods.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It was just cuteness overload left and right.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I love how traditional meets modern in this outfit ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So many art supplies stores here.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And winter clothing…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Nice postcards and lots of stickers and posters of Korean actors.ย  Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Chimes…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Was very tempted to buy this Kitty bag.ย  But the eyes are kinda freaky… ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So happy there were lots of toys here!ย  Was able to get Damien some robots as promised.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Snacking on some chicken with a nice sour and spicy sauce ๐Ÿ™‚

I enjoyed this very much.ย  It also had sticky rice balls.

IMG_4425

This was really good, too.ย  Thanks for sharing this with me, Isabel.ย  It’s an empanada with Japchae inside.ย  So yummy!!!

IMG_4427

We also just had to try their POOP Bread ๐Ÿ™‚ yes, a pastry shaped as poop!ย  For some reason they are fascinated by this.ย  Haha! Well, I can totally relate because my son loves talking about poop as well.ย  LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

image2

People were lining up for this so it must be good.

image3

IMG_4414

It reminded me of pancakes shaped as poop… Haha!

IMG_4415

IMG_4416

Oh Damien would have loved this.ย  Haha!ย  He even has a story about a poopoo island.ย  LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_4418

It was quite yummy, I must say… and I loved the warm brown bean filling… ๐Ÿ™‚

Poop snackin’ with my friend, Claudette ๐Ÿ™‚

And that ends my little tour on Insadong-Gil… Hope you enjoyed that stroll with me at one of my favorite spots in Seoul ๐Ÿ™‚

Coffee in Queens Park… Gangnam Style!

19 Feb

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I am still so high from our recent trip to Seoul, Korea.ย  I was with my best friends from high school and we all have never been to Korea ๐Ÿ™‚ย  So it was so great to explore a new country with my oldest friends ๐Ÿ™‚ This wasn’t really part of our itinerary but ever since the song “Gangnam Style” became so popular, we’ve always wondered… what exactly is in Gangnam??? ๐Ÿ™‚

So we took the train to Gangnam.ย  Dominique was the assigned “trainer”, our train leader.ย  LOL!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So after three stops here, change trains, two stops there… (I think…) we were in sunny but damn cold Gangnam! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I think it was about -15 degrees at that time.ย  All I remembered was that my ears were in pain.ย  It kinda felt like the pain I get sometimes in the airplane!

It was a beautiful day but just too cold to walk outside too long.ย  So we, the islanders, headed towards our destination, hands in our pockets, our scarves covering our entire heads and our legs walking as fast as we can to keep us warm.ย  Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We didn’t enter the Galleria but it reminded me so much of Harrod’s in London.

I absolutely love trees without leaves.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Queens Park was just about three blocks away from the train station where we came from and I never felt this happy to enter a heated room.ย  Haha!ย  The sunlight was not enough to keep us warm.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Queens Park is a bakery and cafe.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So many goodies you can take home.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

All the cakes looked so delicious.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Finally we were at our table for five.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The cafe was quite big and spacious.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Lots of natural light coming in ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My friends and I were actually craving for some breakfast food after all the kimchi and bibimbap ๐Ÿ™‚ Heheย  So we shared an order of Eggs Benedict.ย  Soooo yummy!!! The caramelized onions were delish.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Claudette ordered some ice cream. Look at that beauty!ย  It never really melted.ย  Haha!ย  It was that cold.ย  LOL!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And Isabel ordered some cheesecake with fresh fruits.ย  So refreshing to look at and eat ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Mike had a slice of this awesome cake!ย  It had some chocolate, banana and mocha cake in one slice! OMG.ย  Sorry, I ate most of it! Haha!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And finally, of course, my cup of love ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Gangnam love ๐Ÿ™‚

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This was probably our most expensive meal throughout our trip!ย  Haha!ย  Just to give you an idea… The coffee was about 10,000 won which is around P400, the Eggs Benedict was 20,000 won, about P800.ย  LOL!!!ย  But it was worth it ๐Ÿ™‚ย  At least now I can say, I had brunch Gangnam style! ๐Ÿ™‚

We missed our other friends, Angela, Ria and Kris! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  You’ll see more of them in my other posts about Korea, a whole lot more to come!

Kung Hei Fat Choi, everyone!!! Here’s to more adventures ๐Ÿ™‚
