Damien’s “Future Home”… Manila Hotel

29 Jun

Last weekend was our chance to take a little break 🙂  Dante, Damien and I haven’t been able to go on a real vacation last summer.  So this was a real treat when my brother, Chris, gave us this gift certificate that he got from Manila Hotel.  It was going to expire June 30, 2012 so we had to use it right away.  We decided to stay there last weekend 🙂

Damien always loved staying in hotels 🙂  He enjoyed so much when we were in Hongkong last year.  He was happy just being inside the hotel room 🙂  He’d also love it when we would check in at the hotels in Tagaytay.  So he was soooo excited when we arrived in Manila Hotel.  He immediately called it his “future home” because he really wants to live in a hotel. Hahaha! Oh my!

I still love the feel of this place.  Even if they renovated, I can still feel that it has been here for a very long time.  A truly historical place built in 1912 🙂  Can you believe it’s a hundred years old???

Damien running so fast to our hotel room 🙂

Here’s our room! It’s quite big! We got a superior deluxe room! 🙂

Look at that bed full of pillows!!! Heaven! Damien kept playing with the hotel phone. There was a time when he was actually talking to the hotel staff! Haha! Oops.

Damien admiring the view of his “future home”. And Dante… wifi-ing. Hehe 🙂 There’s free wifi in the rooms and almost all areas of the hotel. Nice.

This was our view 🙂 It was a beautiful, sunny day outside 🙂

Artwork on the wall. It was meant to be that we stayed in the Mabolo room! LOL!

The plan was to just hang around the hotel… and order ROOM SERVICE!!! 🙂

Damien so excited to eat what he ordered! 🙂

We ordered something from the kiddie menu for Damien. We got the Zuma, which is spaghetti with sweet-style tomato sauce 🙂 This dish was P240.  Very yummy.  Damien enjoyed it very much.

And for me and Dants, we got the Pizza Manila Hotel 🙂 It had tomatoes, mozzarella, Laguna cheese, chorizo and olives. It was P510. Loved it! 🙂

After eating in the room, we just rested a bit and wanted to have some coffee 🙂  So here we are at Cafe Ilang-Ilang for some coffee and ice cream for the kiddo.

Damien and his spaced-out face 🙂

Freshly brewed black coffee for me 🙂

And three scoops of ice cream for Damien 🙂 He only liked the vanilla flavored ice cream. Great!!! 🙂 More chocolate ice cream for me and Dants. Hahaha!

The IPhone. Best babysitter, ever.

Dante’s shot of me in a glass of water 🙂

The grand lobby!

Musicians preparing to play 🙂

Lots of goodies at the lobby!

I was supposed to take some of these home. I forgot. Boohoo. Need to try these one day.

Walking back to the room 🙂

Using “the force” on the elevator 🙂

Back in the room, just chillin’.  I love “vacations” like these.  Just doing absolutely nothing!

Part of the gift certificate was breakfast for two.  Unfortunately, Dante had to work that Sunday 😦 He left at 5am that morning to go to work.  So I asked my family to join me and Damien for breakfast at Cafe Ilang-Ilang! 🙂

Meeting time was 9am at the coffee shop 🙂  The breakfast buffet is open til 10am.  There were so many choices for breakfast!!! There was dimsum, different kinds of bread, cereal, pancakes, taho, Korean, Filipino, American breakfast dishes and a whole lot more!  I couldn’t try everything so I just got my favorite breakfast food.  Croissant, some dimsum, corned beef, bacon and hash brown with ketchup!  Oh yeah!  You missed this, Dante Dizon.  As I would always tell my friends, “I love breakfast!!!”.

Meanwhile, Damien only wanted marshmallows. *Sigh*

Look at their awesome coffee machine?!?!

Yey! So happy my parents and brothers came. They didn’t want to take the buffet so they just ordered ala carte. Looked pretty good, too!!!

Chris’ American breakfast 🙂 Also came with cereal 🙂

The Leaning Tower of Pasta!

The Chef preparing for the brunch buffet 🙂

Someone enjoyed his stay at Manila Hotel so much!!! 🙂  Look at how big his smile was 🙂

We promise we’ll take you here again, little boy! 🙂  And who knows, maybe our “future home” can look like this! Haha! 🙂

Thanks to all the staff of Manila Hotel who treated us well 🙂  We’ll be back!!! Here’s to another hundred years! 🙂

Award Winning Lash Curler Turned Gold

24 Jun

Nothing can curl your lashes like Shu Uemura’s Eyelash Curler!

When I got my Shu Uemura’s limited-edition, 24-karat gold-dipped eyelash curler,  I was just staring at it for I don’t know how long.  It was like looking at a piece of jewelry.

Every eyelash curler purchased comes with a replacement silicone rubber pad 🙂  This will last a very long time 🙂

Curl your lashes in style with these gold eyelash curlers!  Now I feel like a Queen! Haha! 🙂

It’s All In The Mind

23 Jun

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll see in the Mind Museum.  It’s so interactive.  What I love most about this place, is that there are no “Hands Off” signs.  Or maybe I just didn’t notice them because I was too busy touching everything. Haha!  🙂

Hmmm… masyadong pinilit itong shot na to! Hahaha! 🙂

Bye for now! 🙂  Enjoy the Mind Museum with your family! It’s definitely worth spending an afternoon here 🙂

Not Exactly IN the Mind Museum

23 Jun

Dante, Crow and I spent Independence Day at the Mind Museum, Taguig 🙂

But we weren’t exactly IN the Mind Museum, we spent more time outside at the park beside Jollibee. Haha!

It was the most awesome playground ever!  But to enter this park, you still needed to buy tickets from the Mind Museum.

There were huge drums that sounded like what they used in shows like Cirque Du Soleil.  We had a blast playing with these drums 🙂

But Damien’s favorite was these water blaster thingies…

It was the perfect park for Damien.  He stayed here without any complaints for almost an hour!

So many things to see and play with…

And lots of new things to learn…

A great educational park for kids and adults, too 🙂

Now it’s time to check out the Mind Museum.  But we decided to have a snack first before entering the museum.  There is a Jollibee beside the park.  Perfect! 🙂

Damien… so excited and still in a jolly mood until…

…he found out that we were going INSIDE the Mind Museum. I discovered something new about Damien that day… He told me, “Mama, I’m afraid of the dark.”  Poor little boy 😦  But I knew he would enjoy the Mind Museum.  So I begged him to give it a chance.

After our yummy spaghetti and fried chicken meal in Jollibee, Damien gave his parents a chance.  He was ready to enter the Mind Museum.

One of the oldest cars in the Philippines 🙂 Pretty cool!

Damien, still being very brave, beside the giant chocolate bar 🙂

And it just went downhill from here…  Damien couldn’t take the dark areas of the Museum 😦

 So here we are again…

He’s back!!! 🙂

Damien was busy with his water blasters while I tried playing a variety of songs on the drums for my audience 🙂

My co-drummer 🙂

Enjoying the view 🙂

Cool see-saws! 🙂

Dante and Damien, trying out the big bubble maker! 🙂

Soooo cool 🙂

They look like surfer dudes 🙂

That ends this blog entry but there will be a second part to this 🙂  Dante and I didn’t want to waste our tickets so we decided to let Damien go home first 😦  So yes, Dante and I were still able to go inside the Mind Museum but without our little Jedi 😦  Maybe next time when he’s gotten over his fear of the dark 🙂

To be continued… 🙂

Taiwanese Anyone?

22 Jun

After our morning shopping trip to Uniqlo, Mall of Asia, we decided to have lunch there to treat our dearest Tatay to lunch.  It was a late Father’s Day celebration because last Sunday was just so full of eating events, Baptisms and reunions.  So we decided to treat our Dad last Tuesday 🙂

We actually didn’t know where to eat yet so we checked the mall directory 🙂  My older brother spotted Lugang Cafe in the list.  And the choice was made 🙂

I absolutely loved the interiors of this place. Completely did not think it would look like this since I was expecting a typical Asian restaurant with simple interiors and round tables 🙂

Drinks were massive 🙂

Three-cup Chicken. A house special.

Pineapple Rice.

Eggplant with Spicy Sour Sauce in Clay Pot. My personal favorite 🙂

Stir-Fry Beef with Chili Peppers

Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao. Ready… set… gooooo!!!

Admiring this little dumpling 🙂  So yummy!!! 🙂 We had two orders of these 🙂

PEANUT SMOOTHIE. OMG. This, I must say, one of the best desserts I’ve tried ever 🙂 I just want to stuff this smoothie in a glass and drink it with a straw. So refreshingly yummy. A MUST TRY.

Overall, it was a great meal 🙂  But that Peanut Smoothie just stole the show.  I cannot wait to go back to try the other desserts and other house specials like the minced pork.  That looked really good, too.  Ayayay!

Best part of the meal was being able to hang with my parents and brothers after shopping at Uniqlo 🙂  Wish there were more days like these 🙂

Welcome to Manila, Uniqlo!

20 Jun

I still couldn’t believe that one of my favorite stores is now here in Manila!!! 🙂

I was always a Uniqlo fan.  Everytime I would go to Hongkong, it would be my first stop, as well as MUJI 🙂  I was also ecstatic when MUJI arrived in Manila.  Now, Uniqlo???  Now, I don’t have to go to Hongkong anymore!!! (Of course not.  Love Hongkong.)

I would always buy my basic casual clothes here, like comfy loose shirts, leggings/jeggings and skinny jeans. They also have cute t-shirts for kids 🙂

Those are my parents in the background. Mom, getting ready to shop. Dad, getting ready to go back outside and wait for all of us. Poor Dad 🙂

We just had to take advantage of the special opening price on selected items! 🙂

Now here is what I took home.

Very basic Bra Tops.  I love it.  Got them in white, gray and black 🙂

I so love these Bra Tops!  Now I don’t have to wear a separate bra and have my bra strap showing anymore! 🙂

These Bra Tops come in different colors and also different prints.  They are so cute.  But I’ll always be a black, gray and white kind of gal 🙂

The original price of these Bra Tops are P990.  But they’re P590 now! 🙂

Was a bit lazy to try on more things because we were only allowed four items in the dressing room, which is a good thing.  And I also saw the line at the counter.  (Thanks to my brother, Chris, who stayed in line while we shopped. Hehe!)  So for that visit, I just got my basic tank tops 🙂  I do want to go back to try on some jeans.  I’ve always loved the fit and the price is very affordable for a good pair.

Welcome to Manila, UNIQLO!  So happy to see you here! 🙂

Missing Vancouver’s Dawgs

14 Jun

My big sister, Candy, and big brother, Ochie, both have been living in Vancouver for a few years now 🙂 Last June 2010, my parents, younger brother, Chris and I decided to reunite with the family again 🙂  We stayed in Vancouver for about two weeks.  I know this is such a late post but as I was browsing through my old photos, I began to crave for these awesome hotdogs!!!  I want to go back for these!!! And of course to visit my siblings again 🙂

They’re everywhere!  In carts like these… or in little restaurants scattered around the city.

But one of the hotdog places that I miss the most is Japadog

“Making The World Happy and Alive Through Hotdogs!”

They’re Japanese inspired hotdog sandwiches.  LOVE.

We all tried their bestseller which is the Terimayo dog and their Shaked Fries which also come in different flavors 🙂

Terimayo Dogs for everyone!!! 🙂

Up, close and personal 🙂

Another hotdog place that we tried was Dougie Dog, The Modern Dog 🙂

Here’s my lovely mother having a blast in Vancouver 🙂

Here’s the Mushroom Swiss Melt Hotdog 🙂

Here is a close-up shot of the dog 🙂

And another… hehehe 🙂 Can’t get over how pretty these hotdogs are 🙂

And here’s the Chicago Dog 🙂

BIG FAT YUM!!!  I can’t wait to go back to Vancouver to have these hotdogs again 🙂

Look who loves Dougiedogs, too??? My favorite singer from the band Foo Fighters!!! The one and only Dave Grohl!!! 🙂

I wish to visit beautiful Vancouver again 🙂 SOON.
